This week (4th-10th March) is National Careers Week #NCW2024 and 8th March is International Women’s Day. If you’re looking to inspire young people with careers, especially those in the wonderful world of science, you’ll find lots of ideas below. Many of these resources were also shared as part of International Day of Women and Girls in STEM.
Firstly, the Royal Society have created a couple of engaging video animations, posters and resources for teachers about Why Science Is For Me.
And here’s nice little video about What is a scientist? with comments and curious questions from children about what a scientist looks like and what they might do.

Books, postcards and posters
Rachel Ignotofsky’s Women In Science book (and equally beautiful postcards) are a great way to spread the word about the accomplishments of a wide variety of Women In STEM (available from wherever you buy your books). Her latest book, The History of the Computer, is also glorious!
There are some fabulous careers posters at FindingAda.com, including Ada Lovelace, Mary Anning, an enormous STEM careers poster from ARM and the niche STEM Careers in the jewellery industry poster!
