Have you signed up for The Great Science Share for Schools 2023 yet to inspire your pupils to Ask-Investigate-Share their scientific questions?

The Great Science Share for Schools (GSSfS) is a FREE annual campaign encouraging children to ask – and answer – their own scientific questions through Scientific Enquiry. It could be related to the topic you’re currently studying, or something completely different. You can start small or get involved in bigger events – there’s something for everyone.

Watch the 2023 Intro launch video here!

GSSfS started in 2016 in Greater Manchester, bringing together about 3000 children to share their science in a science fair format. Fast forward to the pandemic and the shares moved online – and the reach increased! Even more children and schools than ever before could get involved. In 2022 there were online and in person events and over 300,000 children aged 5-14 took part, in more than 14 countries worldwide. How big can we go in 2023 to get as many curious children as possible involved? Take a look @greatscishare on twitter to find out how many children are signed up this year!!

If you aren’t sure where to start or how to get involved, you can find out a bit more about the Great Science Share in a few ways:

Children could share their findings in their classroom, in a whole school event, inviting parents in, by writing a newsletter or blog post, or at a bigger cluster science fair; there might even be a big event happening near you for the 13th June Great Science Share Day! I’m a GSSfS Champion, helping teachers, schools and organisations to get involved and make the most of The Great Science Share for Schools. Find out more about an event we held at Colchester zoo last year in this blog post!

This year we also have some fantastic new resources to inspire your children, and some great guided science enquiry activities if you’re not sure where to start. We have partnered with some science education greats to bring you:

  • Guided enquiries with books as hooks
  • The Great Glass Share with PSTT
  • Great Glider share with Ogden Trust
  • Great Gather and Group with Linnean Society

You’ll need to register to access all of the amazing resources, but it’s all free!

Make sure you register today at www.greatscienceshare.org to access these great resources and to inspire your children to Ask-Investigate-Share their scientific questions!
